Which regulatory authority holds MSCM’s registration?
MSCM is a SEC Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Firm FINRA CRD number is 115120.
Where would my assets be held (custodied)?
MSCM does not take custody of client funds for any reason. Instead, the firm depends upon national or multi-national custodians with substantive scalability as well as extensive disaster recovery capabilities. MSCM has always made it a policy not to custody client assets with any firm that maintains a proprietary trading desk. While a ‘prop desk’ would unlikely be managed with an expressed nefarious intent, the excessive leverage utilized typically in directional speculation and/or quantitative arbitrage creates an environment clearly divergent from that of security for a client’s assets.
Separately Managed Accounts, custodial options:
- TD Ameritrade Institutional
- Raymond James Investment Advisor Division
- ScotTrade Advisor Services
- Various Broker Dealer platforms, as relevant to sub-advisor relationships
What reports will I receive?
You will receive monthly statements from the custodian. In addition, you will be able to see the positions and activity in your account on a real-time basis via the online custodial platforms.
How are trade executions handled?
We execute on the electronic platforms of your chosen custodian. The custodians have internal order-flow management teams whose purpose is to direct order flow to the best-performing market centers. The order-flow management team uses both internal and external technology to generate reports that identify any order that executes outside the National Best Bid or Offer (NBBO).
Does MSCM maintain E&O Insurance?
Yes, Registered Investment Advisors Errors & Omissions (E & O) Insurance from Marsh Consumer through the National Ethics Association (NEA) sponsored RIA E & O Program. $1M policy limits.
